I remember first learning about the OSI
modal back in 2000. Having to
memorize all its 7 layers, and the purpose for
each one, for the upcoming test.
Little did I know back then how much this concept would help me throughout my career. Developed in the 1970's , it describes the fundamentals of modern technology, and a concept I revisit time and time again, throughout development and troubleshooting.
Last week, I realized the recent arrival of AI to the top most layer, the only one the general public gets to see, is only feasible by the decade long progress it's made bubbling through the OSI modal. Taking note of the companies dominating the underlying layers, and their market capitalization.
